Rolled Buttercream Fondant

Reviewed: Oct. 12, 2008
I really liked this fondant! The taste is a TON better than Wilton's fondant, it really does taste like buttercream frosting! I also found it much less chewy than Wilton brand. I followed the recipe exactly. I used this to cover cut out cookies and it was very easy to work with. It was a little on the greasy side but dusting with powdered sugar helped. I can see where it might be a challenge to cover a cake with it as it is very pliable and prone to tearing, but with a little effort I'm sure it can be done - and I can't wait to try!

Slow Cooker Turkey Breast

Reviewed: Oct. 12, 2008
This is all of what they say, easy and delisious. My family and extended family loved it. I was sceptical about not putting any fluids in at all but it was soooo juicey. I didn't do it in the crock pot though the turkey I breat I bought was to big for my pot so I did it in the oven in a turkey bag. I followed the direction for the bag and added flour.

Reviewed: Oct. 12, 2008
I think its funny because I didn't slow cook it and it turned out fabulous and thick I add more spice because that is what my family prefers....love putting the cannellini beans in it good idea! This can be a quick recipe too if you want it to. Thank you for a great recipe dont have to use mixes any more!

Stovetop Granola

Reviewed: Oct. 12, 2008
delicious and easy granola. I substituted 1/2 cup of the oats for rice crispies cereal. I also added a 1/4 cup of wheat germ and a cinnamon stick. I'll be making this often.

Black and White Cookies I

Reviewed: Oct. 12, 2008
very good recipe, especially after I made the changes Kathy suggested, definitely needed less flour than recipe called for, I think next time I will decrease flour even more though, maybe to about 2 cups of each. The dutch cocoa worked well for the chocolate icing, nice and chocolatey, my daughter who is a chocaholic loved these! Husband raved about these too! Next time I might try making icing with milk instead of water though, kinda wanted icing a little less flat, but overall really happy with this recipe. Stores here sell these for a $1 a piece!

Potato Leek Soup III

Reviewed: Oct. 11, 2008
This soup is simple and fantastic. I got comps. from hubby on this. The only thing I did different was to wait until the potatoes were tender to add the cream. I don't think you should boil the cream too long.

Just awesome. I did use 1/8 tsp of tartar and 1/8 tsp of almond extract. SO amazingly delicious. I also love knowing their low calorie and practically guilt free!!!

Apple Pan Chicken

Reviewed: Oct. 11, 2008
This was very good. I made it as written except I omitted the thyme and I subbed walnuts and cranraisins for the pine nuts and currants. I think the pine nuts would of been better especially if they were toasted and chopped. I also chopped the cranraisins. I seasoned the chicken with salt and pepper before sauteing. I thickened the pan juices with a little water and cornstarch. My apples of choice were 2 golden delicious and 1 red delicious. I served this over white rice. Keep the salt shaker handy. I had to salt it while eating. This recipe is a nice combo of sweet and spicy.

Whole Wheat Beer Bread

Reviewed: Oct. 11, 2008
dh (a.k.a. the beer snob as I call him) recommended New Castle Brown Ale to accent the flour in the bread (this coming from someone who only eats frozen food if I'm not home) anyway, the bread came out great! I made 3 breads the first time, then changed the brown sugar to a semi-packed 1/2 cup for the next 3 beers and it was PERFECT! So similar to Tastefully Simple wheat beer bread! Tomorrow I'm picking up a 6 pack of Harvest Moon Pumpkin Ale for a great fall beer bread and still plan to keep the brown sugar at 1/2 semi packed, can't wait!

Easy Vodka Sauce

Reviewed: Oct. 11, 2008
LOVED IT! this is one of my favorite meals and this recipe is so close to an Italian Restaurant in Howard Beach Queens, I added garlic when sauteeing the onions and crushed red pepper flakes at the end with a few dashes of grated parmesan to bring it closer to the restaurant taste I love. Delicious!
