Madison, Wisconsin

Though Madison is the political capital of Wisconsin, Madison is not only a city of politics it is also the city which represents our state to the nation as a truly wonderful melting pot of cultures. Wisconsin was founded by many Scandinavians, Germans and Irish. But times have changed and now Madison Wisconsin is a multi-cultural city not only in population but local cuisine as well. Madison prides itself on the things that have made Wisconsin famous worldwide -- cheese, beer and Bucky Badger brand snack foods -- but we also embrace a multitude of other cultures from Indian to Mexican, the Dane County Farmers Market to Brat Fest. We are a city that just loves our food, and we love it well.

Red Velvet Cake

Reviewed on Sep. 5, 2008 by chefspecialty
My cake did not rise properly in the middle, It would have still been usable but then it didn't come out of the pan right, it broke in half! I generously greased so I suggest greasing and flouring the pan! The cake had good flavor but a little on the drier side.

Baked Sweet Potato Sticks

Reviewed on Sep. 1, 2008 by Katy
I have to admit I did a couple changes, but it turned out so tasty! :D I added to the seasonings: salt, pepper & cinnamon-sugar. I also microwaved the slices (~5 min) to give them a head-start on baking, before the oil & seasoning step. Will make many, many more times!

3-Cheese Pasta Bake

Reviewed on Sep. 5, 2008 by Brooke
This was the first meal I made for my boyfriend, so I really wanted to impress him. I doubled the recipe so I'd have enough for leftovers, but I wrote the recipe down wrong so I only added 1 cup milk instead of 2 cups like I should have when I doubled it. I used 1 package of 2-cheese blend & 1 package of cheddar cheese, & 1 package of parmesan cheese. I added 4 cooked chicken thighs that I had cut into cubes to the mix. I cooked it for about 5 minutes longer than said. My boyfriend loved it! He had seconds & thirds! I on the other hand didnt really like it, it was to cheesy for me. But I had it for lunch the next day and I loved it. Def. better the second day around. I now make this recipe almost weekly, its an easy to make and works well for work lunches. I like to add peas, celery, & onions. I also added sour cream once because I needed to get rid of it & it tasted great! Its a simple easy recipe that you can change to make it your own. A sure keeper!
