Columbus, Ohio

Ohio’s capital and largest city, Columbus is located almost exactly in the center of the state. Columbus saw a sharp population increase in 1831 when the National Road reached it from Cumberland, Maryland, and ultimately extended to Illinois. Immigrants were mostly Irish and German. Today, German Village and the Brewery District are historic areas in the 223-acre neighborhood where public tours take visitors through cottages and Queen Anne Victorian homes. Another historic landmark is the North Market, a culinary smorgasbord of prepared foods including sushi and pad thai, bratwurst, pizza, salsa, and more, with a seasonal open-air farmers market selling produce, cheese, honey, and herbs.

About me:
I am a working mother of two. Daughter is in college with lots of friends that likes to eat. Son is 10 who is into sports. Always hungry. Husband is on the road driving for Delmonte. He loves home cook meals with down home taste. When he is home. So I do a lot of changing old recipes to make them healther for my family. So far they love what I cook. I have substitute a lot of things. They still thing I use ground round, but I use ground turkey. I love to invent my own dishes and use the kids as judges. I do alot of baking on my days off. But I love to do it. I know they are getting good health food. Had no complaints yet. I will try anything once. To see if I can do it. Know matter how hard it is.

Stuffed Acorn Squash

Reviewed on Oct. 14, 2008 by Jennie
This is delicious! Like everyone else suggests, I mixed the ingredients first before stuffing the squash halves (I melted the butter first too.) One reviewer left out the brown sugar because she was worried that it wouldn't go with the savory seasoning in the stuffing mix...I don't know how it works, but the brown sugar makes it soooo good. As gross as it may sound, I was scraping the bowl of stuffing mix and licking the spatula after I filled the squash and put it in the oven. Instead of individually wrapping the squash halves in foil, I placed them in a shallow pie pan and covered the whole thing with foil. I liked the brown sugar flavor so much, I think next time I might sprinkle a little on top after baking and put them back under the broiler for a minute to get crunchy!

Microwave Popcorn

Reviewed on Oct. 14, 2008 by JT
Can't believe this is so easy and it works! I laid the bag down on its side with no problems except for the fact that 1/2 cup kernels is too much for a standard size lunch bag and it overflowed so I had to stop it early. Next time I'll try a little more oil and 1/3 cup kernels. I couldn't taste the olive oil I used. Thanks for an easy winner!

Whole Wheat Pasta

Reviewed on Oct. 14, 2008 by Heather
I'm pretty good in the kitchen and I had a horrible time with these. The dough needed much more liquid than the recipe calls for. I still couldn't get it to a consistency that was good for rolling. Even after adding almost a cup of water I still couldn't get the dough to roll thin. I used a rolling pin, my hands, etc. and it would not budge. Consequently my noodles were on the thick side and it took a long time to cook them. Once they were cooked they didn't even taste very good. These noodles were edible but I certainly won't make them again.
